Donald Trump is destroying our country and moving us closer and closer towards dictatorship. His policies have raised costs for Connecticut families through tariffs, threatened healthcare coverage for over 100,000 residents, cut food and safety net programs, weakened environmental protections, and blocked clean energy jobs that would power hundreds of thousands of homes.
From the blatant corruption and self-enrichment of himself and his family through the presidency, to ICE disappearing innocent immigrants and murdering U.S. citizens, to a reckless war of vanity and distraction in Iran, Donald Trump poses an existential threat to our way of life. And every leader, at every level of government, who continues to support this dangerous regime should be handed their pink slip this November.
Right now in Connecticut, the richest pay as little as 7% of their income in taxes, while the rest of us pay over 20%. That doesn't make any sense. Connecticut is one of the richest states in America, yet working families are struggling more than ever to afford housing, healthcare, childcare, and energy bills. That’s not an accident. It’s the result of a system where hedge-fund billionaires and powerful corporations get to write the rules. When the ultra-wealthy can structure their wealth so they pay a smaller share of their income than teachers, carpenters, and nurses, something is deeply wrong. And when monopoly utilities like Eversource post massive profits while Connecticut families open the highest electric bills in the country, you start to see who the system is really working for.
The real divide in Connecticut isn’t between Democrats and Republicans. It’s between working people and the Epstein Class who have rigged the rules in their favor. They have spent decades shaping a system that protects their wealth while everyday families fall further behind. Taxing the ultra-rich their fair share isn’t about class warfare or punishing success. It’s about restoring balance and making sure the people who benefit the most from our economy finally contribute to the communities that make their success possible.
Every human being deserves the right to lead happy, healthy and dignified lives, regardless of economic or immigration statuses. When more people get insured, costs come down for everyone because treating people early is far cheaper than treating them when they’re already in crisis. When everyone has coverage, people see doctors sooner, prevent issues from getting worse, and avoid expensive ER visits and hospitalizations. That saves money for families, taxpayers, and the entire healthcare system.
Connecticut has world-class hospitals and medical professionals, yet the healthcare system itself is deeply broken for everyday families. Costs keep rising while access keeps getting harder. Insurance premiums, deductibles, and prescription prices are climbing faster than wages, forcing people to choose between getting care and paying their bills. Too many residents delay treatment because they can’t afford it, only to end up sicker and facing even bigger medical bills later. At the same time, corporate insurers and pharmaceutical companies continue to post massive profits while patients struggle to navigate a confusing, expensive system that puts paperwork and profit ahead of care. Healthcare in Connecticut shouldn’t feel like a luxury. It should be a guarantee that every family can see a doctor, fill a prescription, and get the care they need without fear of financial ruin.
Lowering costs for Connecticut families is about more than just taxes and energy bills. It's everything - housing, healthcare, childcare, groceries, education, and more. If we’re serious about helping working families get ahead, we have to tackle the whole picture, not just two line items on a family budget.
